The possibility justification of the 7th class dangerous goods sea transportation on the m/v «YASTREB» IMO 9456719

The project aim was to analyze the vessel`s design and equipment to ensure it meets the following requirements of regulatory documents:

  • The International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (IC SOLAS-74), with amendments.
  • International Code for the Safe Carriage of Packaged Irradiated Nuclear Fuel, Plutonium and High-Level Radioactive Wastes on board Ships (INF Code), with amendments.
  • Directive document 31.15.01-89 (Rus.: «РД 31.15.01-89») Rules for the Maritime Carriage of Dangerous Goods (Rus.: « МОПОГ»), with amendments.

Based on the analysis results conducted by Brisk LLC experts was prepared and approved by the RMRS inspection the document «The possibility justification of the 7th class dangerous goods sea transportation on the m/v «YASTREB» IMO 9456719». This document together with presentation of the vessel RMRS expert allows to receive RMRS 2.1.17 certificate permitting the 7th class dangerous goods sea transportation on the m/v «YASTREB».

It is planned to transport by this vessel sealed radionuclide sources of alpha, beta, gamma radiation and neutrons (ZRI) in special transport & packaging kits and radioisotope devices in the original factory packaging. Transportation can be carried out in universal 10 and 20-foot containers, under condition that special transport & packaging kits is securely fastened inside them. If the transport index is more than 10.0, transportation must be carried out under the conditions of «exclusive use».
